Casa de Mariposa, “house of butterflies” in Spanish, was named for Katelyn’s love of butterflies. Kurt Lucas, of JKL Design, created custom wrought iron gates with Katelyn’s signature butterfly spectacularly adorned around the lush tropical pool area. Each room has a unique butterfly item from all around the world, all walks of life, including gifts from our tenants, family and friends all to honor the memory of Katelyn. Casa de Mariposa was created with a tremendous amount of love to cherish and make memories!

LeBlanc Studios of Sarasota, is the premier photography studio of choice for the Katelyn Joy Derstine Scholarship Fund, Inc. The beautiful portrait of Katelyn on the home page was photographed by LeBlanc Studios while Katelyn served as a high school ambassador for the studio. LeBlanc Studios has been exceptionally gracious in providing photos for the scholarship fund, as well as being the exclusive photographer of our family portraits. Our 2008-2009 winter fall fundraiser ad captures an incredibly beautiful photo, by LeBlanc Studios, of prominent Sarasota women and young ladies sporting the custom “Fly High” shirts to be sold in local boutiques and on the Katelyn Joy Derstine website.
