Alyssa Hunek The most significant community activity in which I have participated is probably Community Theater. I have been performing in community theater productions for twelve years. From the very beginning, it has taught me time management skills. I have always had to earn excellent grades in school while being at the theater until as late as midnight when I was only in elementary school. Theater has also taught me the importance of diversity, and has allowed me to develop connections with hundreds of people. It has taught me how to communicate well with people of all age groups, from children to the elderly. Without theater, I also would probably not be singing at my Cathedral or at other community events. It is what led me to become a singer. Most importantly, being at the theater has taught me to dream big and never give up; I recently played Maria in “The Sound of Music” at Venice Theater, the third largest theater in the nation. Maria has always been my dream role.
